New Recipe Thursday

I have to admit, that is not a picture of my actual homemade whipped cream. It's actually from But I didn't have one of the ingredients available or the time to run to the store, so you get a picture that just looks like mine. :-)

Homemade Whipped Cream

     8 oz. heavy whipping cream
     1/2 cup powdered sugar
     1/2 Tbsp. vanilla extract


  1. In a large bowl, beat the heavy whipping cream at medium speed until it begins to thicken - about one minute.
  2. Add vanilla extract and powdered sugar 1/4 cup at a time.
  3. Continue to beat at medium speed until soft peaks form. You know it's ready when you take the beater out of the cream and the peaks fall over.
And done! It's so quick and easy and tastes so much better than store-bought. Make sure you use powdered (confectioner's) sugar though! I think it blends in much better. And depending on how sweet (or not!) you want it, you can add or subtract some of the sugar. You can even flavor it with cocoa powder to make chocolate whipped cream!
